Reach SNAP households via Providers

Providers (originally called Fresh EBT) is a free mobile app that helps over 5 million low-income families manage their SNAP benefits and finances. Through the app, users can access information about other state and federal programs like tax time supports, housing resources, employment and training programs, and energy assistance.

User trust

Providers is a trusted source of information for learning about changes to benefits and emergency assistance. In March 2020, we created the Benefits Update Center, a tool that helps our users access timely updates about benefits policy changes, housing resources, and other tools like tax time support. The Benefits Update Center is now one of the most used features in the app. We partner with state, federal, and nonprofit partners to get the word out about critical programs and services.

The Fresh EBT app helps the Connecticut Department of Social Services raise awareness about SNAP Employment & Training, an important, value added, benefit for SNAP recipients. The team at Propel was responsive throughout and considered our goals during the development stage. We appreciate the FRESH EBT app for its ability to reach our target audience.

The Fresh EBT app has been one of our most successful channels for launching the Cooking Matters app, accounting for more than two thirds of downloads within our first 3 months. We were also pleased that the majority of downloads obtained through our Fresh EBT ads aligned with our target audience - low-income parents and caregivers of young children.

Fresh EBT provides Maine SNAP recipients with information on their SNAP benefits, healthy recipes, and a wide variety of additional services and invaluable resources. Over 13,000 Maine residents currently use the app to check balances of their SNAP and P-EBT programs, and Maine has partnered with Fresh EBT to promote awareness of SNAP E&T and SNAP-Ed programs.
